New York, NY — The attacks against Jews in America are the only identity-based attacks that occur on a scale larger than attacks against Asians in recent times. The attacks have gotten much worse since October 7.
Across the country, and especially in New York, all have benefited greatly from the tremendous contributions of Jews in the sciences, medicine, entrepreneurship, business, law, and education. These are also areas to which Asian Americans have devoted our efforts, and in which Asian Americans have enjoyed the support and sharing of minds with Jews. The attacks against Jews are attacks against our friends and neighbors.
Asian Wave Alliance (AWA) and Chinese American Citizens Alliance Greater New York (CACAGNY) condemn attacks against groups for their identity. We are horrified by Hamas’ unconscionable, brutal attacks targeting Israeli civilians of all ages, and of their use of both Israelis and Palestinians as human shields, which have additionally triggered increased threats against Jews in our communities.
We condemn the threats and attacks against our Jewish friends and neighbors, and stand with them against antisemitism and against other racial or ethnic discrimination.
