AWA Supports A339A / S2599A Priscilla's Law

On behalf of the Asian Wave Alliance, a nonpartisan political organization representing Asian-American New Yorkers, we express our strong support for A339A sponsored by Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar and S2599A sponsored by Senator Joseph Addabbo. This critical legislation addresses the urgent need for stricter regulations on illegal e-bikes and scooters, a growing public safety concern that disproportionately impacts our communities.  

Asian Wave Alliance has consistently advocated for policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of our neighborhoods, as evidenced by our opposition to measures that undermine public safety and our commitment to fostering secure communities for all New Yorkers. The unchecked proliferation of illegal e-bikes and scooters has led to hazardous conditions, particularly in densely populated areas like Manhattan’s Chinatown, Sunset Park, and Flushing, where our constituents live, work, and raise their families.  

By supporting A339A/S2599A, New York State can take a proactive step toward reducing accidents, protecting pedestrians, and ensuring that our streets remain safe and accessible for all. The legislation’s focus on regulating illegal e-vehicles aligns with our mission to address issues that directly impact the daily lives and future prosperity of Asian-American New Yorkers. We believe this bill will not only enhance public safety but also promote equitable urban mobility, ensuring that our communities can thrive without fear of preventable harm.  

We urge the New York State Assembly and Senate to swiftly pass A339A and S2599A, sending a clear message that the safety of New Yorkers is a top priority. The Asian Wave Alliance stands ready to support this effort and work with legislators to ensure its successful implementation.
